Rally in Sixth Inning Fuels Third Straight Win for Tribe

April 24, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Indianapolis Indians News Release

TOLEDO, OHIO - Hitless and trailing 2-0 entering the sixth inning, the Indianapolis Indians offense erupted for four runs in the frame and held off the Toledo Mud Hens for the Tribe's third consecutive victory. With the triumph, the Indians (8-7) have now won four of their last five games, and are above the .500 mark for the first time this season.

The sixth inning began with a walk to Hunter Morris by Toledo (7-7) starter Thad Weber. Three batters later, Gustavo Nunez stepped to the plate with the bases loaded. He delivered a two-run single to left-center field to tie the game. Deibinson Romero put Indianapolis in front by doubling to left field, plating two more runs to give the Indians the 4-2 advantage.

The Mud Hens were able to score one run in the bottom of the eighth, but Tribe closer Blake Wood would not allow any such rally in the ninth. He entered the game to open the frame and retired all three batters to earn his fourth save of the season.

Indians starter Wilfredo Boscan (1-0) worked six innings and conceded just two runs (one earned) to receive the victory. Weber (2-1) lost his perfect game, no-hitter, and shutout in quick succession in the sixth, and the right-hander was tagged with the defeat.
