Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the second game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Park (7:05 p.m.). The Herd has won nine of its last 10 games and now has the best record in the International League at 10-4. Buffalo is 3-1 on their current seven-game roadtrip that ends with Sunday's series finale.
vs. the IronPigs
The Bisons are 5-0 against the IronPigs this year, having swept a four-game set from Lehigh Valley at Coca-Cola Field, April 16-19. The Herd has now won 17 of its last 21 games against the IronPigs, including 13 of the last 14 contests in the matchup dating back to 2014.
Austin Bibens-Dirkx
RHP AUSTIN BIBENS-DIRKX makes his second start of the year tonight. The righty allowed just one run over five innings in a no-decision in his season debut, Sunday against the IronPigs. Bibens-Dirkx struck out six Lehigh Valley batters in a game the Herd rallied from 4-1 down in the ninth to win 5-4.
Here Comes the Herd
The Bisons have scored 19 runs in the last two games after scoring just 35 in the previous 12 contests. The team set season highs for runs and hits (18) in last night's 11-1 victory. Six different Bisons players had multi-hit performances, including OF EZEQUIEL CARRERA, who finished the game 4-5 with two RBI, two runs scored and a walk.
Matt Hague
INF MATT HAGUE reached base six times last night, going 3-3 with three walks to go along with three RBI. In the last three games, Hague has reached base in 11 of 14 plate appearances. Hague's .472 on-base percentage is 1st in the IL while his .364 average is tied for 7th-best.
Chris Colabello
INF CHRIS COLABELLO has homered in back-to-back games with six RBI over the two-day period. The veteran has four of the Bisons' five home runs this year, good enough for a tie among the IL's best. Colabello's 11 RBI are also 3rd most in the International League.
Bisons Bits
Bisons' starters have allowed one run or fewer in 12 of their 14 outings this season. The team's 1.92 ERA is over a half a run better than any other IL team (2nd -Columbus 2.59)...The Bisons have drawn a league-best 62 walks and have struck out the fewest times in the IL (82).
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (9-7) completed a three-game sweep of the Orioles with a 7-6 win last night. Former Bison Drew Hutchison allowed just two runs in eight innings for the win. INF Josh Donaldson and OF Kevin Pillar each had two hits and two RBI. Toronto is in Tampa Bay tonight for a 7:10 p.m. first pitch.
