Rally Falls Short as Surf Fall, 10-7

ATLANTIC CITY- A late rally wasn't enough as the Surf fell to the first place New Jersey Jackals 10-7 in front of 1025 at Bernie Robbins Stadium.

The Jackals scored a quick run in the top of the first when Clyde Williams singled to center field driving in a run. Former Surf player Williams led the Jackals going 4-for-6 with three RBI and a run scored. The Jackals produced a huge second inning batting in seven runs and sending 13 men to the plate, highlighted by a three-run homer to left field by Matt Lauderdale.

Atlantic City scored four in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run homer from Rob Fischer.

The Jackals' Isaac Pavlik pitched seven innings allowing 11 hits and seven runs, it was enough to improve his record to 5-1. Rusty Tucker came in for his league leading 11th save of the season. Surf pitcher Shingo Mitsamori didn't last long going one a third inning, allowing six runs on four hits. Mitsamori falls to 1-2 on the season. On a positive note Ryan Rafferty pitched three shutout innings for the Surf.

Game two of the three game series will continue Tuesday night at Bernie Robbins Stadium. First pitch is 7:05 PM, following the game is a fireworks presentation sponsored by local Participating Chevrolet Dealers.
