Madera, Farley Named B45 Players Of The Month

DURHAM, NC - PA Sportsticker, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has selected New Jersey Jackals DH Sandy Madera and North Shore Spirit RHP Chris Farley as the B45 Players of the Month for the month of June.
In 27 games, Madera hit .373 (41-for-110) with seven home runs and 23 RBI in leading the Jackals to atop the league standings. He also added seven doubles, scored 24 runs and had a slugging percentage of .627. For the season, the Dominican Republic native is batting .381 with nine home runs, 29 RBI and 32 runs scored. Currently, Madera is in the top five in seven league offensive categories. The 26-year-old was a Player of the Week selection for June 18-24.
Madera was signed as a nondrafted free agent by the Oakland Athletics in 1998. Along with the Athletics, he played for the New York Yankees, Colorado Rockies and Baltimore Orioles. Madera is now in his 10th year of professional baseball.
Farley had a great month of June on the mound for North Shore. In six starts, Farley accumulated a record of 5-1 with an ERA of 1.45 in 37 1/3 innings pitched. He allowed nine runs, six earned and 10 walks while striking out 41 batters. For the season, Farley is 6-1 with a 1.48 ERA in seven games played. The Orange, MA resident is first in the league in wins (6), tied for third in strikeouts (44) and fifth in ERA (1.48). Farley was a Player of the Week for the week of June 11-18.
The 24-year-old was a 14th round selection of the Boston Red Sox in the 2001 MLB draft. He spent four seasons with the Red Sox organization playing for the Red Sox GCL, Lowell and Augusta.
