Tacoma Rainiers News Release
Albuquerque, NM - The Tacoma Rainiers found themselves trailing 5-0 after an inning on Friday before scoring the next 11 runs, eventually claiming a 15-14 contest in 10 innings against the Albuquerque Isotopes with the help of five RBI from outfielder Jake Fraley.
The Isotopes (34-47) scored five times in the first against Tacoma (39-42) starter Andrew Moore, who was making his first start for the Rainiers since 2017.
The Rainiers bounced back with three runs in the top of the third inning, starting with an RBI double from John Andreoli. Ian Miller and Andreoli scored later in the inning on a two-bagger Fraley.
Andreoli doubled home Chris Mariscal and Kelby Tomlinson to start a seven-run fourth inning, tying the game, 5-5. Shed Long gave the Rainiers their first lead with a sacrifice fly, plating Miller for his second run.
Fraley tripled to score Andreoli and Kristopher Negron before Jordan Pacheco singled him in for a 9-5 advantage. Jose Lobaton capped off the big inning with his 15th double to bring in Pacheco.
Negron added another in the fifth with a ground-rule double, sending Miller to the plate for his third and final run.
Moore was chased in the sixth after 5 1/3 innings where he surrendered eight runs on nine hits, including three home runs in the first inning.
Tacoma added runs in each the seventh and eighth on solo home runs from Andreoli and Negron. Andreoli finished 3-for-5 with 4 RBI and 3 runs, doubling twice and homering.
Erik Swanson gave up four runs (three earned) over the next 2 1/3 innings before David McKay came on with two down in the eighth.
McKay was charged with an unearned tally in the ninth but a failed bunt attempt turned into a double play to end the inning and send the contest to extras.
In the top of the 10th, Fraley singled home the automatic runner Negron for the lead, and later scored on a Lobaton single to left field for a 15-14 advantage. Fraley finished 4-for-6 with 5 RBI, a triple, two doubles, a stolen base and two runs, while Lobaton went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI.
Reggie McClain came on for the final half inning and earned his first Triple-A save, allowing the automatic run to cross but going 1-2-3 with a strikeout.
The 20-hit effort was Tacoma's best this month, and marked three-straight games with at least 12 knocks. The current three-game winning streak is the longest for the Rainiers since a four-game streak from May 28-31.
The Rainiers return home for the start of a five-game series on Saturday against the Salt Lake Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels. First pitch of Saturday's series opener is at 5:05 p.m. PDT as southpaw Sean Nolin (1-0, 3.29) gets the nod.
