Aces Sweep Salt Lake in First Leg of Road Trip

Salt Lake City, Utah - The Reno Aces completed the series sweep against the Salt Lake Bees on Friday night. With a 6-5 victory, the Aces are now just four games out of first place in the Pacific Northern Division with a record of 36-44. Ben Lively made his Aces debut tonight following a trade with the Kansas City Royals last week. Lively went three innings, allowed one run and struck out six. The offense helped out Lively early, scoring three runs in the first three innings of play. Marty Herum drove in a run with an RBI single in the top of the second inning to score John Ryan Murphy. A Travis Snider walk followed by a Carlos Asuaje groundout made the score 3-0 after three innings of play. Asuaje extended the lead in the fifth with his first two-run blast of the season. Reno's bullpen held on to pick up the victory. Anthony Vasquez got the win with four innings of two-run ball. The Aces will travel to Las Vegas tomorrow for a quick five-game series before returning to the Biggest Little City on the Fourth of July.

Homer Club: Carlos Asuaje joined the long list of Reno Aces to hit a home run in 2019. Asuaje's two-run blast was his first of the season and 45th in professional baseball. He is the 22nd Aces player to hit a home run this season. Kevin Cron leads the Biggest Little baseball team with 25 and Asuaje, Ildemaro Vargas and Jake Lamb each have one.

Sweep: With four consecutive wins in Salt Lake, the Aces have completed their second series sweep in the month of June. Their first came against the Nashville sounds June 4-6. With tonight's sweep, Reno has now tied their 2018 mark with two sweeps in a season.
