
Rainiers Walk Off River Cats, 7-6, In Game One; Game Two Postponed

TACOMA, Wash. - Designated hitter John Andreoli gave the Tacoma Rainiers (2-1) a walk-off victory in game one of their doubleheader against the Sacramento River Cats (1-2) with a solo home run to left center field on Sunday evening at Cheney Stadium.
Game two of today's doubleheader has been postponed, and will be made up as part of a doubleheader tomorrow, Monday, April 9 with the first game beginning at 5:05 p.m. PT. Game two will begin approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first game; both contests will be seven innings in length.
Fans with tickets to today's scheduled doubleheader who expected to see two games can exchange their tickets for tomorrow's twin bill at the Cheney Stadium Box Office.
Andreoli finished the game going 3-for-5 with two runs scored, one home run, and two RBI. Center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis also notched multiple hits for the Rainiers, going 2-for-3 with one run, one RBI, and a walk.
Tacoma starting pitcher Rob Whalen worked 4.2 innings in his first outing of the year - he allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits while walking two and striking out four.
Erik Goeddel (1-0) earned the win after tossing a scoreless top of the seventh inning. Shawn Armstrong (1.1 IP) bridged the gap between Whalen and Goeddel, and stuck out three while allowing one run on two hits.
Right-hander Max Povse (0-0, -.--) will take the mound for Tacoma in game one of tomorrow's doubleheader and will be followed by right-hander Lindsey Caughel (0-0, -.--) in game two. Sacramento's starters have not yet been announced.
