April 8, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release
Today's Game: Reno enters tonight's contest 2-1 in the young season, alone atop the Pacific Coast league Pacific Northern Division. Albert Suarez will make his Aces debut looking to cool the bats of Fresno who recorded 18 hits and 15 runs last night.
Poetry In Motion: Last night, Socrates Brito recorded a five-for-five night, tying the Aces single-game record for most hits in a game. The D-backs' No. 14 prospect according to MiLB.com has recorded 10 four-hit games in his career, but never a five-hit performance. When asked about his night, Brito said "I never pay attention to those things; I didn't know I had a lot of four-hit games," he said. "I never thought about it. I don't think it means a lot. I knew I had a good game, but I don't pay attention to anything about records."
Departure of the MVP: Christian Walker returned to Reno for just two games of the 2018 season after capturing the Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player award in 2017. The Norristown, PA native was recalled by the Arizona Diamondbacks this morning. Walker launched a franchise-record 32 regular season home runs, drove in 114 and hit .309 in 133 games played. Walker earned a September call up and was featured on the D-backs playoff roster. On Opening Day, Walker belted his first home run of the 2018 campaign in his second AB.
Mr. PCL: Cody Decker was added to the Aces roster this morning, replacing Christian Walker as a first base option for Skipper Greg Gross. Decker has 188 career MiLB HR and 82 in the Pacific Coast League. Decker also needs one double to hit 200 in his career.
They're All Doing It: Last night the Fresno Grizzlies offense had it going. Every Fresno starter recorded a hit and crossed the plate in the 15-run outburst. Tyler White led the way, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and 2 RBI.
