Tacoma Rainiers News Release
Fresno, CA - John Andreoli started his Wednesday night 3-for-3 with a home run, double and 4 RBI, helping Tacoma build an early 7-0 lead, but the Fresno Grizzlies answered quickly and eventually outlasted the Rainiers in walk-off fashion in the 10th inning at Chukchansi Park, 14-13.
Andreoli led off the game with a double and scored the first run on an Eric Filia two-bagger. Joe Odom singled home Filia before the end of the first, giving the Rainiers and early 2-0 advantage.
In the second, Andreoli provided a two-run home run, his 10th of the campaign, doubling the early Rainiers (59-75) lead. Later in the frame, outfielder Jaycob Brugman laced a team-leading 22nd round-tripper that scored three, giving Tacoma their biggest lead of the night, 7-0.
Aaron Knapp and Ryan Court singled home runs in the fifth for the Rainiers, but the club wouldn't score again until the top of the ninth when Kelby Tomlinson doubled in Chris Mariscal.
In extras, Odom singled in Ryan Court to put Tacoma ahead once more, 13-12. The catcher finished 3-for-6, marking his second game with three or more hits with the Rainiers.
In the bottom of the 10th, Brian Ellington was able to record just one out before the tying and game-winning runs scored on Fresno's 19th and 20th hits of the game.
Tacoma used six pitchers in the effort as starter Andrew Moore was charged with seven runs (four earned) in 2 2/3 innings.
Nabil Crismatt punched out five and gave up a pair of runs in 2 1/3 frames.
After Ryan Garton delivered back-to-back scoreless innings, Gerson Bautista loaded the bases in the eighth. Aaron Northcraft came on and allowed all three inherited runners to score, including one on a wild pitch, before getting through the rest of the inning and the ninth unscathed.
The Rainiers and Grizzlies will wrap up their four-game series on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. Mike Curto will have full coverage on South Sound Talk 850.
