Cleburne Railroaders News Release
CLEBURNE, Texas - Blake Grant-Parks reached three times with two singles and an RBI, but for the second straight night a ninth-inning Cleburne rally fell short in a 6-3 loss to the Sioux City Explorers at The Depot on Wednesday night.
Scott came up with the bases loaded and two outs before he struck out to end the game. Grant-Parks walked and Sealey singled, while a two-out walk from Patrick Palmeiro set Scott up.
The Explorers (16-4) won all three games in the series and Cleburne (8-11) now sits a season-high three games under .500.
The Explorers scored five times with three doubles in the 1st inning, and Cleburne starter Roman Gomez gave up six runs over 5.2 innings in his third start of the year.
The Railroaders inched back into the game with a run in each the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings. Palmeiro hit an RBI single in the 3rd, Axel Johnson doubled in Jordan Dean in the 4th and Levi Scott hit an RBI double with one out in the 5th.
The Explorers scored another run after Jay Baum led off the 6th with a triple and Dylan Kelly drove in his third run of the game with a single.
Will Mathis threw 1.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, and Tyler Wilson struck out two in his two scoreless innings of work.
Sioux City starter Luis Mateo went five innings and gave up two earned runs with two walks and six strikeouts. The Explorer bullpen combined for four scoreless innings in relief.
Cleburne now heads to Lincoln for a quick three-game trip. First pitch time from Haymarket Park is 7:05 p.m. on Friday night, and RHP Dylan Mouzakes will throw for the Railroaders.
Cleburne returns home for a seven-game homestand starting with a four-game series against the Wichita Wingnuts on Monday, June 11. It's another Monday Madness at The Depot, with five-dollar berm seats and one-dollar hot dogs. Get your tickets at www.railroaderbaseball.com or call (817) 945-8705.
