RailCats Six-Game Win Streak Over X's Snapped in 11-3 Loss

GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but it was all Sioux City from the third inning on as the Explorers cruised to an 11-3 win at U. S. Steel Yard Tuesday night.

The RailCats took a 2-0 lead after a run in each of the first two innings before the X's took control. Brad Boyer continued to climb up the American Association leader board with another multi-hit performance. After a two-out single in the first, Boyer came around to score the game's first run on a triple to center field by Cristian Guerrero. Guerrero collected three hits on the night including a double and a triple. Mike Valadez singled with one out in the second

Sioux City took command of the game plating 11 runs from the third inning through the sixth to put the game out of reach. The X's roughed up starter Nolan Nicholson, who falls to 3-7 on the year after allowing 11 runs (10 earned) on 15 hits. Dustin Jones, Derek Schermerhorn and Kent Sakamoto each collected three hits for the visitors in the rout.

Recently acquired RailCats righty Chris Little allowed two hits in 2.2 scoreless innings of relief for the RailCats and Will Krout pitched a scoreless ninth retiring the side in order.

The 11-3 final Tuesday sets up the rubber match between the RailCats LHP Alain Quijano (2-1, 3.49) and the X's Nick Schumacher (5-4, 2.52) for a scheduled 7:10 p.m. contest at U. S. Steel Yard.
