Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

GARY, Ind. - The RailCats are celebrating their 10th season of playing at U. S. Steel Yard and will be "Entertaining the Region" with awesome theme nights, giveaways and entertainment for all 50 home games. This season will include all of the fun, affordable family entertainment that Northwest Indiana has come to expect at the Steel Yard, with some new and exciting nights and entertainment acts.

Opening Night on Friday, May 25 will include a magnet schedule for all fans along with a post-game fireworks display. There will also be a pregame picnic party with an all-inclusive buffet and a ticket to the game for just $25 for adults and $20 for kids and season ticket holders. Those interested in the picnic must book by May 18 by calling the RailCats at 219-882-2255.

The season will start with a bang as three entertainers will make appearances at the Steel Yard during the first month of the season. Competitive eating champion Takeru Kobayashi will return to the ballpark for the second straight season on Sunday, May 27 to sign autographs, take pictures with fans and challenge RailCats fans to an eating contest in between innings. On Saturday, June 9, the RailCats will welcome David "The Bullet" Smith, the world's most accomplished human cannonball. Fans will not want to miss it when he fires himself out of a cannon across the field. On Sunday, June 24, RailCats fans are encouraged to bring their furry, four-legged friends to Bark in the Park and then watch on the field as the acrobatic Skyy Dogs jump rope and fetch Frisbees in a thrilling display.

As always, there will be many giveaway nights for RailCats fans. On Saturday, May 26, the first 1,000 fans will receive a baseball hat giveaway and it will be "Belly Buster Night" with fans competing in eating contests for the opportunity to challenge Kobayashi the following night.
