AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Sox have named Travis Lubbe the new play-by-play radio broadcaster for the 2012 season. This will be Lubbe's first professional baseball broadcasting position.

Lubbe will take over for Ben Miller, who was the broadcaster for Amarillo baseball since 2006. The 22-year old Desoto, Texas native currently attends West Texas A&M University majoring in Mass Communication-Broadcasting. Following his graduation from Trinity Christian High School as the Salutatorian, he attended Mountain View College where he pitched on the baseball team.

Lubbe currently is a member of the National Broadcasting Society as well as an on-air personality for the WTAMU radio station, KWTS. He is also a member of the Texas Zeta Chapter of the Alpha Chi Honor Society. Lubbe has also be providing play-by-play and color commentary for the WTAMU baseball team.

Previously, Lubbe served as the public address announcer for his high school baseball team. More recently, he placed third in TV Sports Writing at the 2011 Texas Intercollegiate Press Association convention.

"Every great broadcaster got their start somewhere," said Sox general manager Mark Lee. "I wanted to give Travis his start here. He has the potential to do great things and I look forward to hearing him this year and for years to come."

The broadcast of the games are scheduled to be heard on streaming site Ustream. All 50 home games will be broadcast throughout the season.
