RailCats Drop Series in 8-1 Loss

LAREDO, Texas - Laredo scored three runs in the first inning on their way to an 8-1 win over the RailCats in the series rubber match on Wednesday night. The 'Cats (14-18) finished up their Texas road trip 1-5.

RailCats starter Will Krout, making just the second start of his career and first since 2007 gave up three runs on four hits in the first inning, including RBI hits by Javier Brito and Stephen Pearson. Brito added run-scoring singles in the third and fifth, and had seven hits and six RBI in the last two nights against the RailCats.

The Lemurs scored four runs on four hits in the fifth off of RailCats reliever Chuck Lukanen. Pearson added an RBI single and Kevin Butler hit a sac fly in the inning.

Laredo was one out away from their third shutout in four games when Chris Carrara blooped a single to center to score K.C. Judge for the 'Cats lone run.

Krout (0-2) took the loss, while Manny Ayala (1-1) threw five scoreless innings in a victory.

The RailCats will have a travel day back to Gary on Thursday and start a seven-game homestand on Friday night at 7:10 at U. S. Steel Yard against division-rival Lincoln. It will be Faith and Family Night and there will be post-game fireworks.
