Laredo Lemurs News Release

Laredo, TX - The Laredo Lemurs (14-18) strike for eight runs and get strong pitching all in one day, as they go one to beat the Gary SouthShore Railcats (14-18) 8-1 in the series finale at Uni-Trade Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Lemurs offense got on the board early scoring three runs in the first inning to set the tone for the night. They added one run in the third and put up four more in the fifth to take a commanding 8-0 lead over the Railcats.

The Lemurs were led by hot hitting Anthony Scelfo, as he posted three hits in four at bats with three runs scored. Javier Brito followed up his two homer game by going four for five with two RBI's.

The Lemurs starting pitching stayed strong as Manny Ayala (1-1) worked five shutout innings, giving up three hits, a walk, and striking out four, while earning the win. Over the last five games the Lemurs starting pitcher staff has given up only one run in 33 inning of work.

The Lemurs also had a chance to get their third shutout in five games, but that fell apart as the Railcats posted a run in the top of the ninth off Lemurs reliever Robert Romero.

The Lemurs will head on the road for a six game trip that will take them to El Paso to take on the Diablos, and then to Amarillo to take on the Sox. The three game series in El Paso will start on Friday and the three game series in Amarillo will get under way on Monday.

The Lemurs will be home to take on the Worcester Tornadoes on June 29 thru July 1. You can get tickets at the Laredo Lemurs box office, online at www.laredolemurs.com, or by phone at 956- 7LEMURS. All games at Uni-Trade Stadium are set for 7:30pm.
