Boulders Come Back to End AirHogs' Win Streak at 10

Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

POMONA, N.Y. -- Matt Nandin's one-out single in the bottom of the ninth broke a 4-4 tie and gave the Rockland Boulders a 5-4, come-from-behind win over the Grand Prairie AirHogs at Provident Bank Park on Wednesday, ending the AirHogs' franchise-best 10-game winning streak.

As they had the previous day, the AirHogs (21-11) took the lead in the first, scoring three runs on three hits, a hit batter and a sacrifice fly, but unlike Tuesday night, Grand Prairie could not hold the lead.

The Boulders (14-16) picked up two in the third off starter Nick DeBarr, who failed to win for the first time in seven starts, but Grand Prairie got one back on a two-out double by Trent Lockwood in the fifth to go back up 4-2. But Jonathan Velasquez stranded six runners in six innings, and the Boulders battled back off DeBarr in the seventh.

Cole Kraft began the inning with a sliced double to left, and catcher Zane Chavez threw away Landis Wilson's bunt to allow Kraft to score. After Jonathan Smith grounded to first to send Wilson to third, DeBarr threw a wild pitch to allow Wilson to score to tie the game.

Ronnie Morales (1-1) came on to finish the seventh and worked a scoreless eighth, but Garrett Johnson and Adriam Martin (2-2) allowed a lone hit in three innings of relief out of the Boulders pen.

Smith hooked a double over first to start the bottom of the ninth, and after Chris Valencia bunted him to third, Nandin singled up the middle on the second pitch off Derrick Miramontes to score Smith and win the game.

Notes: DeBarr walked a season-high four and allowed a season-high four runs (three earned)...The AirHogs went 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position in the game...This was the AirHogs' first loss in six interleague games this season.
