June 20, 2012 - American Association (AA) News Release

Fargo-Moorhead 6, Sioux City 5

With the tying run on first base and only one out in the top of the ninth inning, Sioux City had the opportunity to push the game into extra innings. But that's when RedHawks reliever Tom Boleska closed the door on the Explorers. Boleska struck out Sioux City 1B Kris Sanchez then forced C Ray Serrano into a groundout to end the game with Fargo-Moorhead on top, 6-5. The RedHawks took the lead for the first time in the seventh inning when Nic Jackson singled in two runs, turning a 4-4 tie into a 6-4 lead. Jackson went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Fargo-Moorhead got a two-run homer from Sergio Pedroza in the sixth inning to tie the score at four. And the RedHawks never trailed again. Pedroza went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI on the night. For the Explorers, leadoff man Brandon Newton led all players in hits, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

Laredo 8, Gary SouthShore 1

The Lemurs registered 15 hits against Gary SouthShore on Wednesday, using a consistent attack to beat the RailCats, 8-1. Leading the way for Laredo, 1B Javier Brito went 4-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI, bringing his season total to 19. Brito - who singled in the first run of the game in the opening inning - is now hitting .270 on the season. The Lemurs pounced on the early opportunity to take a 3-0 lead out of the first frame. And from that point on, it was all Laredo.

The RailCats got a two-out RBI single from Chris Carrara in the top of the ninth inning to eliminate the possiblity of a Laredo shutout. But with the Laredo pitching staff holding its own all night, Carrara's single did little to threaten the Lemurs. Starting Laredo pitcher Manny Ayala threw the first five innings and struck out four while allowing only three hits and a walk to pick up the win.

St. Paul 6, Lincoln 2 (In progress - Top 3)

After a long rain delay, the Saints lead the Saltdogs, 6-2, in the top of the third inning.
