LAST TIME OUT: Matt Zenzola made 33 saves, Eric Witzel and Steve Mele both scored twice and the Rail Yard Dawgs cruised past the Macon Mayhem, 5-2, Friday night at the Macon Coliseum.

ALMOST HOME: Friday's game is the last of seven in a row that Roanoke will have played on the road. The Rail Yard Dawgs have not played at home since beating the Huntsville Havoc in a shootout, 2-1, on February 17. Roanoke will return home next week as its hosts Macon for a pair of games on March 15-16. It has gone 4-1-1 during the current road swing.

GANDARA DOES IT ALL: David Gandara scored a goal, assisted another and got in his second fight of the season on Friday, giving him a 'Gordie Howe hat trick.' It was the first time this season a Rail Yard Dawg had scored, assisted and fought in the same game.

STANDINGS WATCH: Roanoke enters Saturday's action tied with the Mississippi RiverKings for seventh place with 46 standings points. The Dawgs trail the sixth-place Evansville Thunderbolts by one point and are three points clear of the ninth-place Birmingham Bulls. Roanoke has a game in hand on Mississippi and Birmingham but is even with Evansville in games played.

SHORTHANDED SPECIALISTS: David Gandara scored shorthanded in the second period of Friday's 5-2 win in Macon, the ninth shorthanded goal of the season for the Rail Yard Dawgs. Roanoke now has the third-most shorties this season. Only the Mississippi RiverKings and Huntsville Havoc (ten apiece) have more.

LAST RIDE IN KNOXVILLE: Saturday's game represents the final scheduled regular season game for the Rail Yard Dawgs in Knoxville this year. Roanoke has gone 2-2-0 at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum this season, including wins in each of its last two trips. Overall, the Dawgs are 4-4-0 against the Ice Bears in 2017-18 and have won each of the last three meetings. The two teams will play one more time after Saturday as the Rail Yard Dawgs host the Ice Bears on March 24.

SHARE THE WEALTH: Eric Witzel and Steve Mele led the way for the Rail Yard Dawgs with two goals apiece on Friday. They headlined an offense that got points from eight different skaters and multiple points from four.

KILLIN' IT: Roanoke went 4-for-4 on the penalty kill on Friday and has now not allowed a power play goal in its last three games. The Dawgs are 9-for-9 on the PK during that stretch.

UP NEXT: The Rail Yard Dawgs will return home on Thursday to take on the Macon Mayhem. Puck drop at Berglund Center is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
