LAST TIME OUT: Jake Theut made 42 saves and Joe Sova scored but the Rail Yard Dawgs fell in overtime to the Huntsville Havoc, 2-1, Friday night at Berglund Center. Roanoke picked up a point for the first time in six games with the overtime loss.

WORKING OVERTIME: Friday's game was the third time this season the Rail Yard Dawgs have played past regulation and they are now 1-2 in said games. Their lone win came in a shootout; Roanoke is 0-2 in games decided during the three-on-three portion of overtime.

WELCOME BACK, JAKE: Jake Theut faced 44 shots and made 42 saves in the overtime loss on Friday. It was his second start and third appearance of the season and his first since rejoining the Dawgs earlier this week. Theut was signed in place of Stephen Klein, who was waived after going 1-3-1 with a 4.59 GAA and .884 SV% in seven appearances. Theut split his college hockey career between Northeastern University and the University of Alabama-Huntsville and is in his first season as a professional.

THE MATCHUP: Huntsville and Roanoke will tangle on Saturday for the second time in as many nights and the second of seven scheduled meetings this season. Four of those seven will take place at the Von Braun Center, a building in which the Rail Yard Dawgs have gone 3-2-0 all-time.

BOMBS AWAY: The Rail Yard Dawgs allowed 44 shots on goal on Friday, the fifth time this season they have allowed 40 or more. Roanoke averages 24.1 shots on goal per game and allows 39.2 shots per game. The Dawgs shots are trending upward though, they have been above their per-game average in each of their last six games.

DEALING WITH THE CHAMPS: Huntsville has won the President's Cup in each of the past two seasons- it defeated the Birmingham Bulls, 2-0, in the final in 2019. That win defended its 2018 championship, a series in which the Havoc dropped the Peoria Rivermen, 2-1. Huntsville snapped a three-game losing streak with its OT win on Friday in Roanoke.

ODDS AND ENDS: Jeff Jones now has assists in each of his last three games and points in six of his last seven...Joe Sova's second-period goal was his first of the season and his first in 609 days. Sova sat out the 2018-19 season with an injury...Friday was the first time the Rail Yard Dawgs did not score a power play goal since the season opener in Pensacola, a game they dropped in OT, 2-1...the Rail Yard Dawgs welcomed 3,614 fans on Friday night and are now averaging 3,486 per game, the fourth most in the SPHL.

UP NEXT: The Dawgs will travel to Fayetteville on Thanksgiving to take on the Marksmen. Thursday's puck drop at the Crown Coliseum is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
