Raiders Named 2008-09 WHL Scholastic Team of the Year

Prince Albert, Saskatchewan - At the Western Hockey League Awards Luncheon in Edmonton today, the Prince Albert Raiders were named the recipients of the 2008-09 WHL Scholastic Team of the Year Award. Raider Education Advisor Bob Twyver accepted the award on behalf of the organization.

Raider players attend either Carlton Comprehensive High School or are enrolled in classes through SIAST. This past season Raiders who have already graduated from high school took three modules from SIAST: how to prepare income tax, how to budget and resume writing.

"The Raiders have a strong commitment to education and we are extremely proud of winning this award", said Raiders General Manager and Head Coach Bruno Campese from Edmonton.

The Raiders have been named the Scholastic Team of the Year three times in the ten years it has been awarded by the WHL. They shared the award in 2000-01 with Portland then won it in 2002-03.
