Hitmen Pick 22nd Overall in 2009 WHL Bantam Draft

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen will pick 22nd overall when the Western Hockey League holds its annual Bantam Draft on Thursday, April 30th. The draft will take place in Edmonton starting at 8:30 a.m. at Sutton Place Hotel.

Players eligible for the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft will be 1994-born players who reside in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

The bantam draft allows for the orderly transfer of players to WHL Protected Player Lists from the bantam ranks (14-15 year-olds).

Former Hitmen bantam picks include Chase Schaber (2006), Michael Stone (2005), Martin Jones (2005), Brett Sonne (2004), Ryan White (2003) and Ryan Getzlaf (2000).
