Prince Albert Raiders News Release
Prince Albert, Saskatchewan - The Prince Albert Raiders have acquired 19 year-old defeneman Zach Sim from the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for a 5th round selection in the 2008 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
The Raiders will be Sim's fourth WHL team after playing in Everett from 2004-06, Tri-City in 2006-07 and Medicine Hat this season. With the Tigers in 2007-08, Sim has appeared in 19 games with a goal and three assists.
"With the injuries to our defencemen, we were looking for a player with some WHL experience," said General Manager Donn Clark. Jeff May sustained a shoulder injury Saturday and is out 4 to 6 weeks, while Kyle Aschim remains out indefinitely with a concussion. Ryan Button is expected to return to the lineup this weekend, recovered from a virus.
Sim, who is from Saskatoon, played his Major Midget Hockey with the Beardy's Blackhawks of the SMMHL. The newest Raider will wear #14 and is expected to make his debut Saturday when the Raiders host the Moose Jaw Warriors at 7:30 PM.
The addition of Sim gives the Raiders 25 players on their roster, 2 goaltenders, 9 defencemen and 14 forwards.
