Rage's Mark Wires Named Central Hockey League All-Star
December 29, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - Rocky Mountain Rage left winger Mark Wires was selected today to represent the Central Hockey League's Northern Conference at the 2007 Dodge CHL All-Star Game in Bossier-Shreveport, La., on Jan. 17.
The third-year pro currently leads the Rage in assists with 12 and is tied for the team lead with 21 points (9g-12a). During Rocky Mountain's last game on Wednesday against the Arizona Sundogs, Wires set a franchise record by scoring two goals just 14 seconds apart. He also owns the club's longest point streak of the season, recording at least one point over a five-game stretch from Nov. 24 - Dec. 2 during which he generated three goals and five assists.
"Obviously, Mark has been one of our best if not the best player for us during the first half of the season," said Rage head coach Tracy Egeland. "His consistent work ethic sets an example for the rest of the team, and it's paid off with some nice numbers for him so far. He's certainly deserving of the honor."
Wires and his teammates will play tonight as scheduled against the Austin Ice Bats at Broomfield Event Center at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard live on KLZ 560 AM beginning with the pre-game show at 6:50 p.m.
