
Guinn and Herauf added to 2007 All-Star roster

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]- The New Mexico Scorpions, proud member of the Central Hockey League (CHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Rob Guinn and forward Lance Herauf have been added to the 2007 Dodge CHL All-Star game. The game will be hosted by the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and will take place on Wednesday, January 17.
Both players will be appearing in their first CHL All-Star game. Scorpions captain Rob Guinn will be helping anchor the Southern Conference blue line during the star-studded event.
In 24 games, Guinn has picked up 22 assists, third among CHL defenseman. The Ottawa , Ont. native currently leads the CHL with 17 power play assists. The seven year veteran is enjoying his first season in the CHL with the Scorpions.
"I am honored to be selected for the All-Star game," said Guinn. "Anytime you get picked for an event like this is an exciting."
Herauf has come into his professional career with a bang. The rookie from Bulgonie, Sask. leads all rookies with 28 points; including a rookie high 21 assists. The left wing also is tops among first year players in the CHL with a +11 plus/minus rating.
"To be selected as a rookie to the All-Star team is exciting," said Herauf. "Without the help of my coaches and teammates this season I would not be in such an honored position."
Head coach Ray Edwards is pleased the league has recognized a couple of his players with the All-Star selections.
"Rob and Lance are very deserving of this award," said Edwards. "They have been great players for us this season and we are proud they will represent the Scorpions in Bossier-Shreveport next month."
The Scorpions will be back on home ice Friday night when their rivals from Arizona come to town. In addition to the hockey game, the Stanley Cup will be up for display at the Santa Ana Star Center . Fans can have their picture taken with the most revered trophy in North America . The puck drops at 7:35 p.m.
