Eagles Extend Win Streak with 4-2 Win Over Wichita

LOVELAND, Colo.- Chris Hartsburg had his second straight two-goal game as the Colorado Eagles defeated the Wichita Thunder Friday night 4-2 at the Budweiser Events Center. The game marked the Eagles 123rd consecutive sellout (including playoffs) at home and their 10th straight victory. Tim Boron saved 30 of 32 shots for his fifth win of the season and Sebastien Laplante saved 36 of 40 shots for the Thunder. Brad Williamson scored the Eagles league-leading 20th shorthanded goal as the Eagles won their 13th straight game at home. Colorado will play the Austin Ice Bats Saturday night at the Budweiser Events Center for the first time in team history. Game time is at 7:05 p.m. MST.

The Eagles tallied the lone goal in the opening period on a goal by Scott Polaski at the 2:11 mark. He picked up the puck off the back boards and slid it underneath Wichita's goaltender Sebastien Laplante. Eagles defenseman Aaron Schneekloth assisted on the play for his 17th assist on the season. Shots were even at 12, although the Eagles killed four penalties in the period.

Chris Hartsburg gave Colorado a 2-0 lead on a power play goal at the 10:48 mark of the second period on assists from Ryan Tobler and Craig Strain. At the 19:25 mark, Brad Williamson scored the Eagles 20th shorthanded goal of the season on a slapshot from the top of the left circle. He was assisted by Ed McGrane. Colorado out shot Wichita 22-4 in the period and held a 3-0 lead going into the final frame.

Colorado made it a 4-0 game on Hartsburg's second goal of the game and fourth in the past two games. An even strength goal at the 5:30 mark of the third period on assists from Riley Nelson and Jay Birnie. Nelson continued his point-scoring streak to 10 games with the assist. Wichita battled back and Travis Clayton scored power play goals at the 8:33 and 13:31 marks of the third period. Colorado spent much of the period in the penalty box, however won their 10th straight game behind the goaltending of Tim Boron. The Eagles finished the game out shooting Wichita 40-32 and killed 12 of 14 penalties. Colorado was one for three on the power play and have scored a power play goal in 21 of their 25 games this season. Final score: Eagles 4 - Thunder 2.
