Southaven, Miss. - The Rocky Mountain Rage's discouraging start to the season continued tonight as the club lost to the Mississippi RiverKings at the DeSoto Civic Center, 5-2.

The Rage fell behind, 2-0, in the game's first five minutes. Mississippi's Matt Pierce lit the lamp just 39 seconds into the game before teammate Brad Bonello found the back of the net at 4:36. The ‘Kings then converted on the power play at 15:41 after Matt Summers poured in a rebound to give the club a 3-0 lead through the first.

The teams nearly skated to a draw in the second period, but Mississippi notched its second power play goal of the game with 6.9 seconds remaining in the frame. Bobby Chaumont lifted an easy rebound into the net to give his club a 4-0 lead through 40 minutes.

Rocky Mountain out-scored the RiverKings in the third, 2-1, but the game was already out of reach. Rookie Nathan O'Nabigon scored his first career goal at 4:14, and Simon Watson lit the lamp at 11:53 in his first game back after missing three straight due to injury. The Rage's goals were sandwiched around Bonello's second of the game at 6:18 as Mississippi rolled to the 5-2 win.

The defeat drops Rocky Mountain to 1-7-0 on the year, keeping the club in fourth place in the Northwest Division with two points.
