Rage Trade for All-Star Center Aaron Davis

November 7, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage have acquired Central Hockey League All-Star centerman Aaron Davis from the Texas Brahmas in exchange for future considerations. Davis, 6-foot-2 and 210 lbs., will join the team tonight as the Rage begin a four-game road trip against the Mississippi RiverKings.

Davis played last season in Mississippi, where he recorded 45 points (21g-24a) in 48 games played. His first half with the RiverKings earned him a spot in the CHL All-Star Game, but an injury prevented the Dearborn Heights, Mich., native from participating in the event that was held at Broomfield Event Center. The seventh-year pro out of Lake Superior State has registered 232 points (82g-150a, 313 GP) over his career, the majority of which has been spent in the CHL. This season Davis had three points (1g-2a) in six games with Texas.

"I've had my eye on Aaron the last couple of years, so I was pretty excited when the opportunity presented itself to get him from Texas," said Rage Head Coach and General Manager Tracy Egeland. "He's a point a game guy and a number one center, which is really tough to find."

Davis is classified as a CHL veteran for having for having played more than 280 professional games. Because each team is only allowed four veterans (goaltenders are exempt from the rule), Rocky Mountain was forced to waive fellow veteran John Snowden to make room for Davis on the roster. Snowden scored three goals - all on the power play - during his seven games in a Rage sweater. Tyler Butler, Brent Cullaton, and Scott Wray are the team's other veterans.

"Anytime you're forced to release a player it's a tough decision, but acquiring Davis strengthens our hockey club," commented Egeland.

Fans can tune in to hear Davis' debut with the Rage tonight on ESPN Radio 1600 beginning at 5:55 p.m. MST with the pre-game show. The puck drops at 6:05 p.m. Live audio and video streaming will also be carried on the CHL Network at www.rockymountainrage.com.

The club continues its road trip tomorrow against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs before traveling to face the New Mexico Scorpions and Odessa Jackalopes next weekend. Rocky Mountain then returns to Broomfield Event Center on Nov. 21 and 22 at 7:05 p.m. against the Mudbugs and Rapid City Rush, respectively.
