LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League will look to snap their two game losing streak Saturday, when they host division rival Rio Grande Valley at the LEC on Salute To Heroes Night. Part of the Proceeds from ticket sales to will benefit the Wounded Warriors Project. The Bucks will play their second of a season-high seven game home stand Saturday, when they face a team that they are winless against this season (0-2).
Laredo (5-4, 10pts) dropped their second straight game Thursday night, when they fell to Odessa 5-2 at the LEC. The 'Jacks scored four straight goals against the Bucks, including three in the final period. Laredo failed to score first for just the second time in nine games.
Jeff Bes (3-12=15) and Alex Goupil (7-5=12) lead the Bucks in scoring. Bes' 12 assists, and Goupil's seven goals (tied with Darryl Smith) lead the squad.
Laredo has lost both games to Rio thus far this season, with both losses coming at the Dodge Arena. The Bucks lost 5-2 on October 24th, and fell 3-1 last Saturday. Laredo was outshot in each game, by counts of 52-36, and 48-38.
Rio Grande Valley will host Odessa Friday night at the Dodge Arena, as they look to continue their best start in team history (5-0 going into Friday's game).
The Killer Bees have taken advantage of home cooking, as they have played just one home game thus far this season, winning 2-1 in Odessa last Friday. In that game, Wylie Rogers stopped 53 of 54 Jackalopes shots to steal the win.
Rio has had a balanced scoring effort so far this season, as they have no players with double-digit points. Trevor Weisgerber leads the squad with eight points as of Friday afternoon (3-5=8).
