March 21, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
PRESIDENT'S CUP PLAYOFF FORMAT: The CHL is wrapping up its final two days of the regular season The top five teams from each conference qualify for the President's Cup Playoffs with each division winner claiming the 1st and 2nd seeds. Seeds #4 and #5 will play a best-of-three series for the right to move onto the Conference Semi-Finals. From there, each round is a best-ofseven series. In the Conference Semis, it is #1 vs. #4/#5 and #2 vs. #3. The winners will then meet in the Conference Finals for the right to advance to the President's Cup Finals.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN RAGE CURRENT PLAYOFF OUTLOOK: Following Wednesday's surprising OT 7-6 loss to the Arizona Sundogs, the Rage owns a 35-21-6 overall record (76 points) and is currently sitting behind the Mississippi RiverKings in sixth place in the Northern Conference, two points out of the playoffs with two games remaining.
The #1 seed Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (90 points), #2 seed Texas Brahmas (82 points), #3 seed Colorado Eagles (80 points) and #4 seed Youngstown SteelHounds (79 points) make up the first four seeds in the conference. The Colorado Eagles can win the NW Division title with just one more point and will therefore move to the #2 seed in the Northern Conference. At this point, the Rage can only tie in points with the Colorado Eagles for the Division if the Rage were to win their final two games against Tulsa and Bossier-Shreveport and the Eagles were to lose both of their remaining two games to the Youngstown SteelHounds. The Rage would have the tie breaker.
