Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League, in conjunction with Border Lease and Laredo Energy announced Friday night that they will "Pack The House For Charity" at the Bucks first home playoff game on Saturday March 29th. All Tickets in every section, with the exception of glass and club level seats will be available for a minimum $5 donation to Sacred Heart Children's Home and South Texas Food Bank. The Bucks, along with Border Lease and Laredo Energy are looking to sell out the game, and have 6,500 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Bucks head coach/GM Terry Ruskowski made the announcement on the ice during the second intermission of the Bucks/Bees game.
Tickets are on sale now by calling 718-BUCK (2825), or by going to the LEC box office. All walk up tickets on the day of the game will also be available for $5. This is the first time in Bucks history that fans can receive a ticket for $5 to a playoff game with all the proceeds going to charity. Fans can donate more than $5 to the charities if they so choose.
"Laredo Energy and its predecessor Michael Petroleum have been drilling for and producing natural gas in Webb and Zapata Counties for over 20 years. It is an honor to be partnering with my good friend Ramiro Alarcon and Border Lease Service, along with the Laredo Bucks, in supporting two great charities, the South Texas Food Bank and Sacred Hearts Children's Home", said Bucks owner and Chairman Glenn Hart.
"It's an honor to provide all Bucks fans in these two great counties an affordable opportunity to witness the greatest of any live sporting event, PLAYOFF HOCKEY! I would especially like to extend an invitation to not only Laredoans, but all of our friends from Mirando City, Encinal, Aguillares, Bruni, Oilton, San Ygnacio, Benavides, Zapata, Bustamante, Ramireno, and Escobas to support these two charitable organizations, who do such great things in the Laredo Area, and to witness Game one of another run to the Presidents Cup CHL Championship!", Hart said.
The Bucks begin their quest for a third CHL President's Cup Championship March 29th when they host an opponent yet to be determined, and the players say that a large, sellout crowd is a key ingredient to their success.
"There is nothing better than playing in front of a packed house at the LEC with the greatest fans in the CHL, Laredo Bucks fans", said player/assistant coach Jeff Bes. "When the LEC is packed that gives us more energy and we play better".
"There is no doubt that having a packed house helps our players", said Ruskowski. "The more people there are in the LEC, the louder it gets, and the better we play. We need all Bucks fans to come to the game and help us towards our goal of winning another championship."
The Numbers do not lie. When the Bucks have played in front of a sold-out LEC they are 14-2-2, including 4-2 in playoff games. The last time Laredo sold out a playoff game at home was game three of the 2005 President's Cup Finals when the Bucks beat Colorado 5-4.
The Last time the Bucks held a sellout event like this it was extremely successful. On March 9th of last season the Bucks sold out the LEC against Colorado, and because of the sellout the team donated $10,000 to the Juvenille Diabetes Research Foundation.
$5 tickets for the "Pack the House for Charity Night" are on sale now by calling 718-BUCK (2825), or by going to the LEC box office. All walk up tickets on the day of the game will also be available for $5. This is the first time in Bucks history that fans can receive a ticket for $5 to a playoff game with all the proceeds going to charity.
