Rafters to Make Up Postponed Game on June 8

Wisconsin Rapids, WI. - Due to heavy rain, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters and Lakeshore Chinooks were forced to postpone today's home opener after the first two innings were completed. The Rafters and Chinooks will make up today's postponed ballgame the next time Lakeshore visits Witter Field on June 8th. The two teams will play a doubleheader and pickup tonight's game in the top of third inning with Chinook leading 6-2, with the originally scheduled game to begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the of the first game.

Before the rain started to fall, Jeremy Montalbano added a two-run homerun in the bottom of the second-inning that sailed over the head of Chinooks centerfielder, Ryan Solberg, but a big six-run first inning by the Lakeshore Chinooks gave them an early 6-0 lead. The game was postponed after a 30-minute rain delay that began at 7:53 p.m. (CST), and occurred just as the Rafters bats began to spark. The two teams will start in the top of the third with the score at 6-2.

The Opening Day, postponed game will resume in the 3rd inning on Saturday, June 8th at 4:30 pm, prior to the regularly scheduled home game against Lakeshore. The game will be played through 9 innings. Thirty minutes after the completion of the suspended game, the Rafters will begin the regularly scheduled game for that evening. The regularly scheduled game will be a 7 inning contest.

The Rafters will continue their 2013 schedule tomorrow when they hit the road for the first time this season to face Lakeshore for the Chinooks home opener at 6:35 p.m. (CST). Fans can listen to tomorrow's broadcast on WFHR AM 1320, with the pregame show set to begin at 6:20 p.m.
