Rafters Swept in Doubleheader against Eau Claire

Eau Claire, Wis.- The Rafters fell for the second game of the doubleheader by a score of 6-5 at Carson Park. Taking the win for Eau Claire was Victor Sanchez (New Mexico), it was his third win of the summer. Craig Pearcy (Morehead State) took the loss for the Rafters. Wisconsin Rapids moves to 26-31 overall, 11-14 in the 2nd half. The Express with their fouth straight win, are now 27-34 on the season, and 14-13 in the 2nd half.

The Rafters were leading 5-1 going into the bottom of the eighth inning. John Jaeger (Pacific) was outstanding through the first seven innings for Wisconsin Rapids. The visitors were winning 2-1 in the eighth when Sam Tolleson (Central Florida) crushed a thre run home run into the Eau Claire night to extend the lead to four runs. It was all Express the rest of the way as they scored three runs in the bottom of the frame. The Express had runners on 2nd and third with two outs in the bottom of the ninth when Kyle Marinconz (Cal Poly) singled to right field. Joe Gillette (Oregon State) scored the tying run and Sam Hurt (Madison College) came home from second base on the base hit to win the game for Eau Claire. The Express finish the summer 3-0 against Wisconsin Rapids, while the Rafters fall to 0-5 against the North Division.
