
Bullfrogs Take Game 1 of Doubleheader

Green Bay, WI- The Green Bay Bullfrogs defeated the Wisconsin Woodchucks 5-4 in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader at Joannes Stadium.
Luke Lind pitched a solid game in 5 1/3 innings for the Bullfrogs. He allowed two runs on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts, as he improved his record to 3-1 this season.
Jack Strunc extended his hitting streak to six games with a pair of singles and a double for the Bullfrogs.
Woodchucks' starter Jared Helmich was replaced by Trevor Dudar after five pitches in the bottom of the first. With runners at the corners and nobody out, Brian Celsi put the Bullfrogs on the board with a base hit over first baseman Owen Taylor's head to score Logan Taylor.
After a double dropped in the outfield for Danny Rosenbaum in the third inning, Ryan Donovan singled through the infield to extend Green Bay's lead to 2-0.
Desi Ammons singled in between shortstop and third base in the fifth, as Rosenbaum came around to score his second run of the game. Following a single and a hit-by-pitch to load the bases, Ty Blankmeyer reached on an infield single with two outs to give Green Bay a 4-0 advantage.
Wisconsin scored its first runs of the game on a three-run home run by Albee Weiss over the left-field wall to cut the deficit to one.
Jake Stolley retired all six batters he faced out of the bullpen with three strikeouts in his 21st appearance of the season.
Green Bay gained an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth with a sacrifice fly from Celsi to give the Bullfrogs a 5-3 lead.
Matthew De La Rosa allowed a pair of leadoff single to Weiss in the ninth, and another single by Troy Traxler put runners at the corners with two outs. De La Rosa struck out Owen Taylor, but he reached on a wild pitch. After a nine-pitch at bat with pinch-hitter Keenan Eaton, De La Rosa struck him out to earn his second save of the season.
The Bullfrogs and Woodchucks will conclude the doubleheader tonight at 7:05. Fans may receive an N.E.W. Landscape & Lawn Care Team Poster.
