Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters earned their first shutout win of the 2018 season. The Rafters defeated the Woodchucks 1-0 backed by a solid start from the returning Gareth Stroh (Purdue), who pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and fanning six. Wisconsin Rapids scored the first and only run of the game off a solo home run to right field from Brody Wofford (UCF). The Rafters' bullpen took over in the sixth as Mason McReaken (SIU Edwardsville) pitched three scoreless innings and struck out three. Hunter Robichaux (Bucknell) then closed the door on the Woodchucks in the ninth for his second save of the year.

Gareth Stroh (1-0, 0.00) earned the win in his first game for the cranberry and gold since the 2016 Summer Collegiate World Series. Orsen Josephina (0-1, 1.29) was given the tough luck loss going six innings and only allowing the Wofford homer to right.

The Rafters conclude the two-game series with the Woodchucks and second homestand of the year tomorrow evening. Trayson Kubo (2-0, 0.90 ERA) will take the mound for the cranberry and gold opposite Alec Abdalah (1-1, 2.25 ERA) for the Woodchucks.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
