Huskies Offense Stays Hot in Win over Mankato

June 10, 2018 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Duluth Huskies News Release

After dropping a tough game against Willmar the night before, The Huskies quickly put last night's loss behind them as the offense came up big again against Mankato. Duluth got on the board first in the third inning when Augie Isaacson delivered an RBI-Single to score General McArthur to give the Huskies the 1-0 advantage. Mankato would come back to take the lead in the sixth inning after Josh Elvier sent a three-run homerun over the wall in right-center off starting pitcher Hayden Shenefield to give Mankato a 3-1 lead, but that would be the only mistake on the day for Shenefiled in what would be a strong start for the right-hander. Shenefield then held the Moondogs in check as the offense responded by scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth to re-take the lead. They would add on some insurance runs in the seventh and eighth inning to solidify a 9-4 win against rival Mankato.

The offense once again did their part as all the starting Duluth hitters registered at least one hit. The team totaled 17 hits as production was delivered all throughout the Huskies' lineup. Seven different Huskies produced runs and Augie Isaacson paced the Duluth offense with a team-high three hits. Hayden Shenefield started his second game of the year on Sunday and pitched seven strong innings for the Huskies as he struck out seven Moondogs en route to his first win of the season. Tyler Cassmeyer appeared in his second consecutive game and he finished off the final two innings to secure the eighth win of the season for the Huskies.

Duluth will matchup with Mankato again on Monday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35.
