Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - Wisconsin Rapids (1-3, 16-20) broke a five-game losing streak and picked up their first win of the second half with a commanding 14-4 victory over the Green Bay Bullfrogs (2-2, 24-15). The 14 runs matched a season high for the Rafters and was one less than their total output over the previous four games.

The Rafters knocked out 12 hits, but also received the benefit of 16 free passes during the game in the form of 14 walks and two hit batsman.

The Rafters exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the second, bringing 12 batters to the plate in the inning. Wisconsin Rapids four hits in the inning, two more reached via walk and one Rafter was hit. The Bullfrogs aided the home team with three errors in the inning, leading to all eight runs being unearned. Six Wisconsin Rapids hitters picked up RBIs, including a pair for Jake Sandlin (Georgia College) and Dustin Woodcock (SIU Edwardsville).

Green Bay closed the lead to 9-4 after the top of the sixth, the Rafters scored two more in the sixth and three in the seventh to push the lead to double digits at 14-4.

Jack Riley (UConn) improved to 3-0 on the year with the win. The lefty went six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits while striking out three and walking four. Dmitry Shtyker (Russia) picked up his first save of the summer, throwing three clean innings to close out the win.

Zack Domingues (Long Beach State) and Sandlin led the way for Wisconsin Rapids with three RBIs, while Ernie Clement (Virginia) had his second consecutive three-hit game and is now 6-for-9 in his brief time with the Rafters. Bryce Jordan (LSU), Nate Easley (San Joaquin Delta) and Sandlin each scored three runs.

The Rafters will now begin a four-game series with the Wisconsin Woodchucks, only one of which will be played at Witter Field on Monday, July 6. Wisconsin Rapids will play at Athletic Park in Wausau, Wis., on Sunday, July 5 and then a two-game set on July 7-8.
