Omaha Lancers News Release

Single goals in the first and second periods gave the Sioux Falls Stampede the cushion they needed in a 3-1 victory over the Lancers in Sioux Falls on Friday, April 6th. The loss was the second straight defeat by the Lancers, going into the first of two straight games against the Sioux City Musketeers on Saturday night, April 7th.

Zach Hansen opened the scoring with a power play goal just over 13 minutes into the first period for Sioux Falls, who then added to the lead with a goal just over midway through the second period, scored by Zach Redmond for a 2-0 advantage after forty minutes of play. Redmond's goal became the eventual game-winning score.

The Lancers answered early in the third period, when Travis Novak netted a power play goal at 4:29, assisted by Jake Marto and Mark Olver. The goal from Novak was his ninth of the season and his second in as many contests. It was also his fourth power play of the year. However, Sioux Falls squelched the rally with a goal from Drew Fisher at 6:44 of the final period for what would become the final score.

Drew Palmisano took the loss for the Lancers in net with an 18-save effort. Matt Lundin claimed victory in the crease for Sioux Falls with a one-goal, 34-save performance.

Both teams were 1-for-5 on the power play.

Next up for the Lancers is a visit to Sioux City to meet the Musketeers on Saturday, April 7th. A rematch will take place at the Mid-America Center on Friday, April 13th, before the Lancers' final regular season game at home against Lincoln on Saturday, April 14th.
