
Musketeers Rally Past Lancers in Sioux City

Sioux City won their second straight game, while the Lancers fell for the third straight time, as the Musketeers rallied in the third period for a 4-3 win in Sioux City on Saturday, April 7th.
The result came despite the efforts of Mark Olver, whose two goals put him at the 30 goal mark for the season, including a power play goal that gave the Lancers a 3-2 advantage in the third period.
The Lancers opened the scoring in the first period, when Mark Olver scored his team-leading 29th goal of the season, blasting a shot past Sioux City net minder Jerry Kuhn at the 3:29 mark of the first period, assisted by Patrick Schafer.
However, Sioux City scored a shorthanded goal from Anthony Maiani at 8:45 to tie the game at 1-1, followed by a goal from Phil DeSimone, assisted by Donnie Hallmark and Danny Wurden at 16:01 to take a 2-1 lead.
In the second period, the Lancers tied the game at 17:54, when Jarmo Jokila scored his 19th goal of the year, assisted by Barry Almeida and Matt Thurber.
The Lancers took theor 3-2 lead in the third period, when Mark Olver scored his second goal of the night (30th of the year, 7th power play goal) on power play, assisted by Andrew Conboy and Travis Novak at 4:27.
Sioux City answered with a goal from Joe Sova at 9:16 for a 3-3 tie, then took the lead with a goal from Andrew Rowe at 13:38 for a 4-3 lead. Rowe's goal would become the eventual game-winning goal.
Michal Valent took the loss in net for the Lancers with 30 saves, while Jerry Kuhn was the game winning goaltender, also with 30 saves.
The Lancers were 1 for 7 on the power play, while Sioux City was 1 for 5.
Next up for the Lancers will be a rematch with the Musketeers Friday night April 13th at the Mid America Center. Game time is 7:00 PM and tickets are available through Ticketmaster and the Mid America Center box office.
