TONIGHT'S GAME: The first game of a two game series and the 11th of 16 meetings vs. the Knights. The seventh of eight at The Diamond. Richmond is 4-6 vs. the Knights, 2-4 at the Diamond. Game one of a three game homestand (Richmond was 2-8 on a 10 game road trip). The 40th of 48 meetings vs. South Division clubs (Braves are 21-18 vs. the South) and the 21st of 24 home contests at home vs. the South (Richmond is 12-8). The Braves were 8-8 vs. the Knights last season, 4-4 at The Diamond. The Braves are 105-120 all-time vs. Charlotte. The Braves are fourth in the South, 25.5 games behind first place Charlotte. The Knights have already clinched the South title and lead by 16.5 games.

LAST NIGHT'S GAME- The Braves beat the Louisville Bats 6-2 at Louisville Slugger Field Tuesday. The Braves took advantage of four Louisville errors to sweep the two game series. The Braves scored four times in the first inning. Carlos Mendez knocked in a run with an RBI single. Cesar Crespo followed with an infield single that included two throwing errors allowing three runs, including Crespo to come in to score. James Jurries bashed a home run in the fourth to give the Braves a 5-0 lead. Scott Thorman chased a run home in the sixth with a single to make it 6-0. The Bats managed two runs in the last of the sixth on RBI singles by Dewayne Wise and Brendan Harris. Matt Wright earned the win Joe Mays took the loss. Seven different Braves each had one hit. Andy Abad and William Bergolla had two hits each for the Bats

SABERMETRICS: Bill McCarthy is hitting a club leading .438 in August. He has raised his batting average from .223 to .245. McCarthy has eight hits in his last 17 at bats. Jonathan Johnson has 10 strikeouts in his last five innings pitched. Braves pitchers are 15-73 at the plate (.205). Richmond pinch hitters are 7-52 (.135). Richmond has a winning record against South Division clubs. They are a combined 34 games under .500 vs. the North and West. The Braves are one game under .500 for the month of August after winning eight of their first nine games this month. They won four of their first five games in June and six of their first nine in July. The Braves last winning record for a full month was August, 2004. 18 R-Braves have been promoted to Atlanta this season and Richmond has made 101 roster moves. The Braves are tied for the league lead with Rochester for most extra inning games played (17). The Braves are 5-12 in extra innings. The Braves four wins when trailing after eight innings leads the International League.

SWEEPING EPICS: The Braves swept the two game series with Louisville, their first road sweep since taking a two game series from the Bats last August 22-23. The Braves have won back to back road games for the third time this season. Richmond has swept three series this season. They have been swept three times.

RAISING ARIZONA: Two R-Braves have been assigned to play in the Arizona Fall League. RHP's Anthony Lerew and Will Startup will be part of the Braves seven player contribution to the Peoria Javelinas. Other Braves prospects headed to Arizona this fall include RHP Joey Devine (who was with Richmond earlier this season), OF Josh Burrus (who was with Richmond at the end of last season), RHP Sean White, SS Yunel Escobar (a former Cuban junior national teammate of Brayan Pena), and C Jarrod Saltalamacchia (who is currently playing with Team USA in the Olympic qualifying tournament).
