
Braves win third straight

RICHMOND, VA- The Richmond Braves beat the Charlotte Knights 4-3 at The Diamond Wednesday. The Braves rallied for two runs in the seventh inning to win their third straight win.
James Jurries doubled a run home in the first to give the Braves a 1-0 lead. Charlotte tied the game in the third on an RBI double by Jorge Velandia. Jurries chased another run home with a third inning single to put Richmond back in front 2-1. The Knights again tied the game in the fourth on an RBI single by Ernie Young. Charlotte took advantage of a pair of Richmond errors in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead. The Braves moved in front to stay with two runs in the seventh. Dax Norris produced the tying run with a single and later scored the game winner on a wild pitch.
Jonathan Johnson picked up the win. Manny Acosta notched his 14th save. Matt Skrmetta took the loss. Jurries, Wes Timmons, and Gregor Blanco had two hits each. Young and Ruben Rivera had two hits for the Knights.
The Braves and Knights meet again Thursday at The Diamond. Anthony Lerew will pitch for Richmond against Charlie Haeger. For more information please call 359-4444.
