TONIGHT'S GAME: The fourth of a four game series and the eighth of 16 meetings, the fourth of eight at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Braves are 2-5 vs. the Bulls, 1-2 in Durham. Game six of a six game road trip (Richmond is 2-3). The Braves were 9-7 vs. the Bulls last season, 5-3 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. This is the 13th of 48 games vs. South Division opponents, Richmond is 5-7 vs. the South; the seventh of 24 road games vs. South Division opponents (Richmond is 3-3). Braves are 61-76 vs. the Bulls all-time. The Braves are third in the South, 13 and a half games behind first place Charlotte. Durham is second in the South, nine games back of the Knights.

LAST NIGHT'S GAME: The Braves beat the Bulls 8-7 in 11 innings Thursday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Braves overcame a 5-0 deficit to snap a three game losing streak. The Bulls jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first on RBI singles by Elijah Dukes, Kevin Witt, and Shawn Riggans, and a sacrifice fly by Brent Butler. Dukes chased another run home with a single in the second to give Durham a 5-0 advantage. The Braves began to chip back on a solo home run by Bill McCarthy in the third. Dax Norris doubled a run home in the fourth to make it 5-2. McCarthy smashed a three run homer in the fourth to tie the game at five. Durham jumped right back n front in the home half on another RBI single by Riggans and a Kevin Cash sacrifice fly to make it 7-5. Cesar Crespo knocked in a run with a ground ball to cut the Bulls lead to 7-6. The Braves tied the game in the ninth on an RBI double by Kelly Johnson. The Braves pushed the winning run across in the 11th on a fielder's choice ground ball by Scott Thorman. Manny Acosta picked up the win. Wayne Franklin notched a save. Jose Rodriguez took the loss. McCarthy had three hits and four RBI to lead the Braves. Dukes and B.J. Upton each had three hits for the Bulls.

BULLPEN SHUTS THE DOOR: The Richmond bullpen worked eight scoreless innings in last night's game. RHP Phil Stockman has worked his last 9.2 innings without allowing a run and permitting just two hits. He has not allowed a run over 10 innings in five appearances on the road. All three runs allowed by Stockman came in one appearance. He did not allow a run in 7.2 Double-A innings before coming to Richmond. Wayne Franklin has worked four straight scoreless outings over six innings. Manny Acosta has not allowed a run in four appearances since his promotion to Richmond.

NUMBER CRUNCH: The Braves ended a three game losing skid last night. Kelly Johnson has hits in five straight games (8-20 .400). Bill McCarthy has hits in four straight games (8-16.500). All four of McCarthy's home runs have come on the road. Braves pinch hitters are 2-15 (.133). The Braves David Kelton had a pinch hit in last night's game, ending an 0-12 skid for Braves pinch hitters. The Braves have been out-scored by a total of 47 runs this season. 40 of those runs are the result of getting outscored 33-17 in the first inning and 32-8 in the eighth.

LEADING THE WAY: Kevin Barry is ninth in the IL in ERA and fourth in strikeouts. Wes Timmons is tied for 10th in batting average (.316). Timmons is third in the league in on base percentage (.428). Scott Thorman is tied for second in hits with 54. The Braves are third in the IL in fielding percentage.
