NAHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights

Quick Hits: NAHL Game 27 Preview

December 8, 2018 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights News Release

With a season-best four game win streak, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights (10-15-1, 21pts.) look to stay hot in game two of three on the weekend against the Northeast Generals

(7-13-4, 17pts.) Saturday night.

Shootin' Shots

Last night, Lincoln Hatten scored the only shootout goal to give Wilkes-Barre a 5-4 win over Northeast. This came after the Knights rallied in the third period, with Jacob Badal scoring to tie the game with under five minutes left. Blue liner Blake Kryska scored a goal and an assist for the Knights. Adrian Danchenko and Gabe Temple also scored, while goalie Zach Stejskal made three stops on as many shooters for the Generals in the shootout to secure the win.

You Like Playing These Guys, Don't You?

Knights forward Adrian Danchenko has now registered a point in all four games he's played against the Northeast Generals this season. Danchenko has six goals and 15 points overall, with eight of his points coming in the games against Northeast. The University of Alabama-Huntsville commitment also scored four of those six season goals against this team, including his lone shorthanded tally. Danchenko has a goal in each of the four games.

This may not come as a surprise for Danchenko. The forward across his 100-plus games with the NAHL Knights has found success more against the Generals than any other team. In the last 18 games he has played against Northeast, Danchenko has 20 points, dating back to the last two games between the teams in the 2016-17 season.

Northeast Going South

With the Knights picking up the win Friday, the Generals have now lost six straight contests. This includes four consecutive losses at their home rink, New England Sports Village. They have not won since November 17th.

Forward Louis Boudon operates at over a point per game pace with 32 in 24 games, but the rest of his teammates have under 20 points. Forwards Clark Kerner and Jordan Randall have been in and out of the lineup with injuries. Both were acquired via trade earlier in the year. The Generals saw their second year in the League of Opportunity bring them to the Robertson Cup Playoffs after a difficult inaugural season of NAHL hockey, but year three has kept them in the basement of the East Division thus far. Of their combined 17 losses (including overtime) seven games have been lost by one goal. In their four overtime losses, they had the lead at one point in three of those games, including last night.

For What It's Worth

Saturday is game four of five on this road trip for Wilkes-Barre. They are 3-0 thus far.

Jacob Badal has scored in five straight games. He is tied for the third longest goal scoring streak of the season across the league.

If the Knights win Saturday, they will be just the eighth team of 24 in the NAHL to have a five game win streak this season.

Game time is set for 7pm on the road. Tune into the live broadcast on HockeyTV.
