Knights Defeat the Rebels, 4-1

PITTSON, Penn. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights defeated the Jamestown Rebels, 4-1, in their matchup on Saturday, January 4, at Revolution Ice Centre.

The Knights record in regular season play is now 15-14-2-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL).

The Knights' first game of 2020 began with a scoreless first period.

However, the Knights went on to take a two-goal lead in the second period.

Jordan Strand struck first with 6:29 left in the second period, with assists from Johnny Kaljian and Tyrone Bronte.

With just 45 seconds left in the period, Artur Turansky extended the Knights' lead to 2-0 off of assists from Cam Cervone and Strand.

The Rebels responded at 2:18 of the third period with their first goal of the game, but it wouldn't be long before the Knights took over the scoreboard once again.

Egor Postnov scored his third goal of the season on a power play at 7:50 of the third period, with an assist from Nikita Asylaev.

Turansky netted his second of the game, and the Knights fourth goal against the Rebels, with 10:16 left in the third period. Christopher Rubenach and Postnov tallied assists on the goal.

Ultimately, the Rebels were unable to recover from the Knights' three-goal lead and fell, 4-1.

Zach Stejskal played a full game in net.

The Knights return to action tomorrow, Jan. 5, for a rematch with the Jamestown Rebels.
