Johnstown Tomahawks News Release

?JAMESTOWN, NY - The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Jamestown Rebels 3-2 in a close contest Saturday night at Northwest Arena.

Much like Friday night's game the Rebels scored the game's first goal as Antonio Venuto deflected a shot from Alexandre Roy behind the pads of Tomahawks goalie Cooper Lukenda.

The Tomahawks responded at the 13:51 mark of the first period when Bennett Stockdale tapped in a loose puck for his seventh of the season. Alex Wilkins and Joey Kile picked up the assists.

In the second period, the Rebels gained the lead back after a penalty to Andy Nedeljkoivc. Alex Roy's shot from the point bounced off a Tomahawks stick blade into the cage for a 2-1 Jamestown lead.

However, Johnstown responded late in the second period with a power play goal of their own from Carson Brière. Brière's 19th of the season was assisted by Hunter Toale and Oliver Benwell.

Johnstown took control of the game early in the third period when Joey Kile fired a wrist shot past Rebels goalie Noah West. Kile's fifth of the season proved to be the game winner as the Tomahawks held on for the 3-2 win.

The Hawks return to 1st Summit Arena on Friday, Dec. 14 for a 7:30 p.m. tilt with New Jersey. Fans will receive a souvenir beanie cap while supplies last. Saturday night is the traditional Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear or other stuffed animals to the game to toss onto the ice after the Tomahawks score their first goal.
