Bugs Lose Fourth in a Row

The Shreveport Mudbugs (11-11-4) drop a heartbreaker against the Topeka Pilots falling 4-3 in OT Saturday night at the Kansas Expocentre.

The Mudbugs got off to a fast start when Dakota Concannon buried home his third goal of the year from the slot at 3:13 giving the Bugs an early 1-0 lead. Conor Witherspoon grabbed the only assist on the goal. Shreveport would strike again at 6:32 when Anton Rubstov would rattle home a loose puck in front to give Shreveport a 2-0 edge. Topeka would get back in it though at 11:02 of the opening period with a powerplay tally making it a Bugs' 2-1 lead after one period of play. Shreveport out-shot Topeka, 20-8 after one period.

The Mudbugs broke a 2-2 tie in the 3rd when Timothy Clifton drilled a one-timer from the right point to give Shreveport the lead back at 4-3 at 10:15.

The game was tied once again and at 4:25 of the OT session, it was Brendan Schultz who was able to sweep home the game-winner to lift Topeka to a dramatic 4-3 win.

The loss is Shreveport's fourth in a row.

The Mudbugs will conclude their two-game set against the Pilots tomorrow afternoon at 4:05 p.m. from the Kansas Expocentre. ?
