
Quality Play Continues: Curve Win Series Finale 6-3

Bowie, Md. - The Altoona Curve defeated the Bowie Baysox 6-3 in the series finale on Sunday night at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie. With the win, the Curve took three out of four games in Bowie and return to Curve, Pa. for a homestand on Monday.
Bowie tallied the first two runs of the game with three hits in the first. Niuman Romero hit an RBI double down the right field line that gave the Baysox their first run of the game and he scored two batters later on a K.D. Kang RBI single.
Altoona answered the 2-0 deficit with a five run second and never looked back from there. With two outs, Carlos Paulino hit an infield single and advanced to third on a double from Jarek Cunningham. The duo scored three pitches later when Gift Ngoepe laced a single to tie the game at two and Ngoepe advanced to second on a throw home. Alen Hanson followed with a line drive single to right that scored Ngoepe and gave Altoona a 3-2 lead.
Altoona's second inning continued thanks to two errors by Bowie's Romero. The third baseman committed a fielding error which allowed Drew Maggi to reach base. Josh Bell followed with an RBI single that plated Hanson. Stetson Allie then reached on a throwing error by Romero which allowed Maggi to score to cap Altoona's scoring in the second.
After Bowie cut the Curve lead to two with a run in the fourth, Altoona tallied their final run of the game in the sixth. Willy Garcia hit a solo home run with one out to give the Curve their final run of the game. Garcia finished the series 7-for-16 with two home runs, five RBIs, four runs scored, and his Eastern League-best 16th outfield assist.
RHP Pat Ludwig (2-4) picked up the win after he put up a quality start. The 24-year-old went six innings and gave up three runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and four walks. Bowie LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (3-7) suffered the loss after he gave up five runs (three earned) over six innings. Kenn Kasparek racked up his eighth save of the season and remains perfect in save opportunities.
The Curve finished the road trip with a winning record of 5-2 and will return home on Monday for a homestand against the Erie SeaWolves followed by a series versus the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Fans who come out to Monday's game can enjoy postgame fireworks. Monday is also a Mirror Monday with $2 Grandstand Tickets with a coupon from the front page of the sports section in Monday's Altoona Mirror. Fans can also get a Free General Admission Ticket with by bringing two canned good to the ballpark thanks to Martin's. Gates for Monday's game open at 6 p.m.
RHP Adrian Sampson (9-5, 2.60) will take the hill for Altoona and he will be opposed by RHP Wilsen Palacios (6-4, .95). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. while pregame on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM, and the Curve Radio Network is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
