(Reading, Pa.) July 27, 2014 - Akron's Jordan Smith hit for the cycle Sunday, capping his career-day with a two-run triple in the ninth inning to lead the RubberDucks to a 6-4 win over the Reading Fightin Phils at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Smith finished 4-5 on the afternoon, collecting a double in the second inning, a lead-off homer in the sixth, a single in the seventh, and a three-base hit in the ninth. The only time he was successfully retired by the Phils was the fourth when he flied out to center field.

His triple in the ninth off Reading's Miguel Gonzalez (0-2) drove in Ronny Rodriguez and Bryson Myles to snap a 4-4 tie. It was his third triple of the year, but, without a doubt, the most timely. His homer in the sixth was his second of the season.

Smith's ninth-inning heroics made a winner of righty Shawn Armstrong (5-2), who threw two scoreless innings.

The four-hit game by Smith was part of a 19-hit attack by the RubberDucks, the most hits in a single game this season.

Erik Gonzalez and Bryan LaHair chipped in three hits apiece.

The RubberDucks (59-50) gained a split in the four-game series, and gained a game on first-place Richmond, who lost at Erie, 6-2, Sunday.

The RubberDucks will return to Canal Park and begin a three-game series with the Bowie Baysox on Monday night at 7:05. LHP Shawn Morimando (1-1, 1.00) is the scheduled starter for Akron, while LHP Anthony Vasquez (5-6, 4.56) is expected to get the ball for the Baysox. The game will be broadcast on WARF 1350 AM and online at www.AkronRubberDucks.com.

The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The 2014 season is the 18th since moving to Canal Park and the first as the RubberDucks.
