
Quakes Down Sixers 9-2 Behind Offensive Prowess

San Bernardino, CA- The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (12-7) defeated the Inland Empire 66ers (5-14) Tuesday night behind an offense that generated nine runs and fifteen hits in a 9-2 final. The Quakes victory ended the 66ers modest two game winning streak and dealt Jeremy Rhoades (1-3) his third loss of the season.
The 66ers jumped out to an early 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second. Zach Houchins, who reach on an error, and Jeff Boehm, who reached on a ground ball to center field, scored on consecutive plays to cap the scoring for the 66ers. Offensive standouts for Inland Empire were Taylor Ward and Boehm who each had two hits apiece.
The Quakes received a strong pitching performance from Tommy Bergjans (2-1). The Right hander went seven innings strong striking out nine while only allowing two runs none of them earned. Offensively the Quakes were lead by Jordan Tarsovich who went three for three including a two run home run in the top of the ninth off Dixon Llorens.
The series continues on Wednesday at 11:00am at San Manuel Stadium. Tyler Carpenter (2-0 0.50 ERA) goes for the 66ers while the Quakes will counter with right-hander Josh Sborz (1-1 2.57 ERA). The contest can be heard live through the 66ers radio network via 66ers.com.
