Montgomery Biscuits News Release

JACKSON, TN - A promising ninth inning rally fell short for the Biscuits (59-52), and they dropped the second of five to the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (59-53) by a final of 8-7 Sunday at Pringles Park.

Down 8-6, the first three Biscuits reached in the ninth inning to chase Jaxx reliever Steven Richard. Craig Albernaz then hit a bloop single to make it 8-7, and the Biscuits still had them loaded with nobody out. But Emeel Salem bounced into a 1-2-3 double play, and Rashad Eldridge flied out to center to end the ball game.

It was the second time in the game the Biscuits had rallied. After the a three-run Joe Dunigan homer put Justin Garcia and the Biscuits in a 4-0 hole after two, Henry Wrigley drove a homer to left field to cut the deficit to 4-2 in the fourth. West Tenn would take one back in the bottom half, but the Biscuits pushed across three in the fifth to tie it, capped by a two-out Eldridge double.

Josh Satow (1-2) gave up three decisive runs in the seventh, breaking a 5-5 tie to put the Jaxx in front for good. A Dunigan sac fly to center wound up standing as the winning run.

Garcia allowed five runs on five hits while walking four over 3.2 in his first ever pro start, taking a no-decision. West Tenn starter Steve Bray (7-7) was the winner, holding the Biscuits hitless through three innings and finishing seven innings, allowing five runs on six hits.

Eldridge led the way for the Biscuits offense with a 3-5 afternoon. Wrigley and John Matulia each recorded their second straight multi-hit game with two knocks.

LHP Alex Torres will take the ball for the Biscuits on Monday at 7:05 against West Tenn's Mauricio Robles.
