American Defenders of New Hampshire News Release

(NASHUA, N.H. - July 31st, 2008) Jerod Edmonson help the Nashua Pride walk-off on the Brockton Rox for the second time in as many games, 6-5, and win their fourth straight against the Rox in front of 1,575 fans at Historic Holman Stadium on Thursday night.

Center fielder Ervin Alcantara led off the tenth inning with a single, then was pushed to third by shortstop's Dorian Rojas single, which set the table for Edmonson to single up the middle for the walk-off win. Edmonson finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBI, Rojas 2-for-4, with a run scored and an RBI. Third baseman Argenis Tavarez led the Pride offense with a 4-for-4 night, stealing a base and scoring a run.

Brett Palanski (1-2) earned his first win of the season pitching a perfect top of the tenth to allow Nashua a chance to win it. Pride starter Jason Paul (3-2) did not factor in the decision, but gave the team eight innings of work, yielding four runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking three along the way.

Rox closer Jerry Dunn (1-2) took the loss, unable to record an out in the bottom of the tenth, giving up a hit to all three Pride batters he faced. Starter Stevie Delabar (3-3) went six innings in the game, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits, while striking out six and walking one.

Brockton's offense was paced by Dennis Abreu (2-for-5, run scored, RBI), Melvin Falu (2-for-4, run scored, RBI), Derek David (2-for-4, two runs scored) and catcher Josh Vander Hey's solo home run in the fourth inning, which broke a 3-3 tie.

Nashua will welcome the Worcester Tornadoes to Historic Holman Stadium for a weekend series starting tomorrow night with a double-header scheduled to begin at 6:05pm. The starters for game one will be Hideki Nagasaka (6-3, 5.33 ERA) for the Pride, and Alex Pena (1-3, 4.44 ERA) for the Tornadoes.
